The Cincinnati Bengals have scheduled a visit with DT Amobi Okoye (Chicago Bears) for some time after this week’s NFL owners meetings, a source confirmed.
Okoye, 24, is coming off a productive season with the Bears. The fifth-year interior defensive lineman only started one game for the Bears but saw time in just under 55 percent of the defensive snaps in 2011. He posted 27 combined tackles and 4 sacks in his situational pass rushing role.
The Bengals recently lost versatile DL Jonathan Fanene, who posted 6 ½ sacks last season, to the New England Patriots, so their interest in Okoye makes sense.
Okoye was originally selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
In addition to Okoye, sources said the Bengals have been eying other veteran defensive tackles, but have yet to schedule any other visits going forward.
